We have adopted BIM into our daily production, increasing productivity and decreasing time spent on

requests for information. BIM establishes a digital representation of the physical aspects of a facility in 3 dimensions with embedded object information and/or intelligence. The model can be used as a

repository for facility information and used by electronic facility management systems.


Based in Houston, Oreon Design Group uses BIM for multi-disciplined vertical construction projects to provide high-quality and efficient designs. In addition, ODG has used BIM on a number of design-build projects to effectively link design and construction. We have the ability and the resources to conduct full building assessments, data gathering, asset tracking, and custom maintenance record creation for any type of facility or structure. ODG has made significant investments to ensure our designers and engineers are trained on latest BIM software packages. The benefits of BIM are endless when compared to traditional 2-D drafting and designing, including:

  • Excellent multi-discipline coordination and conflict identification

  • Intelligent data associated with every object in the model

  • Rapid visualization of the finished product (3-D renderings)

  • Traditional drawings outputs (plans, sections, schedules, etc.) are easily created and updated

  • Non-traditional outputs, such as shop drawing creation, material quantification, cost estimating, energy analyses, that general contractors can use for their construction bids.

  • Model usage for future building renovations and/or facility management systems

  • BIM & LEED Construction – BIM models have the ability to denote facility elements that are LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) compliant to help promote sustainability.

Solutions Overview

Navisworks is not a 3D modeling program but a program that converts large REVIT 3D model files into smaller 3D models that are far more manageable for a multitude of team members. It gives OGD a more efficient tool to review and resolve differences between multiple consultant models. Navisworks is a powerful desktop application that can filter and separate specific model information. It will not be a program to replace REVIT, but a tool that works in conjunction with REVIT and makes certain processes much more efficient. Navisworks can be used in a multitude of applications. ODG has the ability to performs Clash Detection and generates customized Building Conflict Reports (BCR). Our staff works together with architects, engineers, general contractors, and various trades to detect and resolve the design conflicts among construction elements before construction dollars are ever spent.

The coordination meetings are run, and BCRs are produced, using Autodesk® Navisworks

Manage® Software. This software is the industry standard for precise collision detection and

clash reports before construction begins. Multiple CAD and/or BIM platforms can be imported

into a single file, stripping down the base geometry to keep the file lightweight. We upload each BCR by trade for all parties to see, then document the issues and update the project schedules. We also supply hardware and software where a turnkey solution is necessary. This coordination would help fix any problems in the computer instead of in the field; it is the perfect solution software to save money, time and avoided any changes orders during construction.


MEP Coordination/Naviswork

  • We will take models from the design team which will be the architects, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, A/V, IT and security models and produce reports where collisions are occurring and give the report back to the design team for coordination to fix.

  • This is done to maximize coordination efforts to fine collision in design instead of in construction.


Model Mechanical HVAC ductwork and piping with insulation, using the architects, and structural models to avoid conflicts. Electrical and Plumbing will be reference also to check for conflicts.
